You Did It! Dominick’s List Is Fully Funded!

Last week, we shared the story of Team Summer kid Dominick—a six-year-old, autistic, nonverbal child battling cancer. After receiving his Team Summer gift, he turned around and immediately nominated 13 other kids! This was a first for us—that many nominations from one kid at the same time… and more than our budget could take on all at once. But this kid, with all his challenges, reaching out like that? We really wanted to make these gifts happen for him.

So we put it to all of you. Could we raise $8,000 to fund Dominick’s list?

Today, we are so happy (and amazed!) to report that your combined efforts have raised $9,280—more than enough to cover every gift! YAY!!

And we have already gotten started! Here goes!

KID #1 – BODEN

Boden is a five-year-old from Michigan. Dominick met him when they were both in New York for treatment, far away from both their homes. They happened to be at the same park near the hospital and began playing together as kids do—you know, as if they had known each other for years!

Boden has been having a rough time ever since last July. A persistent pain in his arm turned out to be Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. Since then, Boden has been through chemotherapy, radiation, and a complex, 15-hour surgery  in New York. That day in the park, well, it was great for Boden to just be able to play.

Because Dominick is autistic and nonverbal, connecting with others isn’t always easy for him. That interaction meant a lot to him, too. So it’s no wonder Boden was on Dominick’s list. When the boys recently reconnected on a Zoom call, Boden had no idea that a big surprise was waiting for him… right in his own backyard!

Dominick’s gift was an outdoor playhouse! When Boden saw it, he literally jumped for joy! Now he has a space of his very own— just for fun, whenever he needs a break from everything else.

Way to go, Dominick! Great job!

Now, on to the rest of Dominick’s list! Thanks again to everyone who made this possible.

And remember, each child Dominick nominated will have their chance to give a gift, too. That’s how Team Summer grows: kid to kid, one gift at a time. Want to help more kids with cancer feel less alone?
